Brief Description of the Project
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a German public-benefit federal enterprise. GIZ works worldwide in the field of international cooperation for sustainable development and has over 50 years of experience in a wide variety of areas. We work to shape a future worth living in over 120 countries around the world.
The Project “Support to the Transitional Justice Process in Ethiopia” (S2TJ) is accompanying the Ethiopian Transitional Justice (TJ) process as per Ethiopia’s TJ policy from 2024. This process is an essential element in the national peace process and indispensable for ensuring reconciliation, as well long-lasting and sustainable peace. The project is advising and strengthening key government institutions as well as Civil Society Organizations (CSO) in order to promote an inclusive, gender responsive, survivor- and victim centred TJ-process in line with international human rights standards. To this end, S2TJ is cooperating with associations of victims and survivors of grave human rights violations, conflict, displacement, SGBV and other types of atrocities. This collaborative support focuses on network building within and across regions, capacity building on TJ-related topics, Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), memorialization, peacebuilding initiatives, and organizational development support. As a Victim and Survivor Engagement Advisor, your main tasks are:
Responsibility and tasks
•You manage and provide technical support for grants awarded to human rights organizations, women’s rights organizations, and victim and survivor associations, including monitoring implementation, reviewing reports, ensuring compliance with grant requirements, and serving as the focal point for partner organizations.
•You support partner organizations in the implementation of activities related to transitional justice, documentation of atrocities, MHPSS, peacebuilding, and memorialization, while promoting victim centred and gender-responsive approaches across programme activities.
•You strengthen the institutional and organizational capacities of victim and survivor associations through technical assistance, mentoring, capacity development initiatives, and support for organizational sustainability and networking.
•You coordinate and facilitate partner engagement, stakeholder consultations, workshops, learning events, and networking activities to foster collaboration, knowledge exchange, and meaningful participation of victims and survivor.
•You support project implementation through preparing procurement documents, assisting financial and administrative processes, contribute to monitoring and reporting, and other operational tasks in accordance with GIZ procedures and donor requirements.
