Manager, Third Party System Integration & API Management Full Time NEW

Purpose of the Job: Build and govern the Bank’s Open Banking ecosystem by managing all fintech partnerships, API infrastructure, and middleware integrations that connect the Bank’s systems to the broader digital economy safely, securely, and at scale.

Generic Functions:

• Develop, review and implement policies & procedures, plan /budget of the division
• Demonstrate the Bank’s code of conduct, culture & ascertain that subordinates abide by same
• Cultivate a working environment that promotes teamwork, collaboration, and transparency among staffs
• Provide services as per the service level agreement, follow- up & monitor subordinates to do the same
• Mentor and coach subordinates towards effective career development
• Adhere to internal control system, risk management program of the Bank and NBE’s Directives, rules and regulations
• Adhere to internal control system and risk management program of the Bank
• Handle other related generic activities as deemed necessary

Specific Functions:

• Own the Bank’s full external partnership lifecycle from initial due diligence and contract negotiation through to live integration management, performance monitoring, and renewal governance
• Define and enforce the Bank’s Open Banking API governance framework establishing technical security standards, data privacy requirements, and operational SLAs for all third-party connections
• Lead evaluation and approval of new fintech partnerships, conducting operational risk assessments for integration feasibility, compliance alignment, and revenue potential
• Ensure all middleware, automation, and API integration layers are continuously optimized for sub-second processing latencies and near-zero downtime
• Report monthly to the CDBO on partnership counts, API transaction volumes, integration health metrics, partner revenue performance, and prospective partnership pipeline
• Represent the Bank in external technical working groups, payment industry forums, and regulatory consultations on open banking and API standards
• Oversee T/L Partnership and T/L Integrations, aligning both on pipeline and technical execution targets

Experience: Seven/Nine 7/9 years of relevant experience in Banking, fintech partnerships or API product management of which at least 3 years as Senior or Equivalent position in partnership of payment schemes, Digital banking, managing third-party integrations and digital ecosystem development.

Additional Requirements:

Certifications: Agile/Scrum certification, Scheme Certification (Visa/Mastercard), API Management Certification (MuleSoft, Apigee or equivalent), CISSP or equivalent security credential advantageous, Open Banking/PSD2 regulatory knowledge certification.

Technical Skills: Fintech partnership due diligence and commercial structuring, NBE open banking regulations and international API standards, RESTful API design, API gateway management (Apigee, Kong, AWS), and OAuth 2.0, Middleware integration platforms (MuleSoft, IBM MQ, Apache Kafka).

Behavioral Competencies: Highly strategic with strong commercial awareness for partnership value, Strong negotiation and relationship management skills, Technical credibility to engage deeply with fintech engineering teams, Disciplined governance mindset to balance innovation with security.
