Risk and Compliance:
The role holder is required to carry out the duties in accordance with the SCI Fraud, Bribery, and Corruption policy and code of conduct. The key responsibilities include understanding and complying with the SCI policies and procedures, not committing any act of fraud, bribery, or corruption, understanding risks in their area/role, and implementing mitigation measures, report any suspected fraud, bribery, or corruption immediately, declare conflicts of interest in accordance with internal procedures and complete mandatory training related to ethics and anti-fraud measures
ROLE PURPOSE:
The Area manager is a senior representative of SCI in the field and a member of Senior Country Management Team, responsible and accountable for the leadership and management of three or more Field Offices and project offices, who are primarily managed by Field Managers on a day-to-day basis. He/ She will oversee the implementation of Save the Children program, management staff, and resources and establish excellent working relationship with partners. S/he is also responsible for coordinating the development and implementation of Area office strategies and annual operational plans, and enforcing consistent implementation of Operational Core Business Processes, policies and procedures at all level.
Reporting to the Director of Program Operation, the role supports and facilitates key relationship between the CO Operational team and other CO units (PDQ, HR, Finance, and Safety & Security) with the Field Managers, Area-level support functions (Finance, HR/Admin, Supply Chain, Safety and Security etc). In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.
SCOPE OF ROLE:
Reports to: Director of Program Operations- DPO
Overall area office staff will be more than 80. Seven direct reports (including 2 Field Managers, Area office functional leads: Finance, Supply Chain, HR/Admin, Safety and Security and other as applicable). Overall budget responsibility is above 5 million USD with more than 8 active awards from a mix of bilateral and multi-lateral donors. Projects in the sector of Health, Nutrition, Water, Sanitation & Hygiene (WASH), Education, Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL), Child Protection and Child Rights Governance. The Area Manager will oversee SCI’s programs in Oromia and Sidama, with a possible expansion to and Southern Regions
