Project Context and Scope

Migration Health Department- Emergencies
Project Name: Enhancing disease surveillance at priority entry points and among mobile and displaced communities in Ethiopia to prevent, detect, respond to, and contain Marburg virus transmission

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

• School diploma with six years of relevant experience; or,
• Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with four years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

• Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations; 
• Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
• Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.

Skills

• Technical skills in monitoring and evaluation and with a good understanding of USG funded programs
• Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively and persuasively present information in a variety of settings and formats.
• Familiar with activity reporting methods and information management.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, with proven experience in Word, Excel and Power point.

Languages

IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish. 

Required

For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written). 

Desired

Knowledge of Amharic and local language is an added advantage.

Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

IOM covers Consultants against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan (CP), free of charge, for the duration of the consultancy. IOM does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for reasons related to non-occupational accidents and illnesses. Consultants are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accident or illness and will be required to provide written proof of such coverage before commencing work.
