CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 3: the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.
ROLE PURPOSE: The WASH Coordinator will lead the design, implementation, and coordination of WASH interventions under the ECHO-funded Area-Based Approach (ABA) programme in Wag Himra. The role ensures the delivery of high-quality, integrated WASH services that address critical public health risks related to water scarcity, poor sanitation, and hygiene gaps, while strengthening system functionality and coordination mechanisms.
The position will ensure WASH programming is aligned with ABA principles, contributing to joint analysis, coordinated prioritization, and integrated service delivery across sectors. In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile.

The role holder will closely work with the respective government offices, hygiene and sanitation officers, and should quarterly assess and report on the health facility WASH coverages, communal and institutional latrine coverages and overall latrine coverage and functionality at the respective intervention woredas. He will also assess the water quality monitoring tests with integration of government office water quality teams to ensure clean drinking water at the household level.
