Role purpose:
The role holder is responsible for the configuration, enhancement, change management and day-to-day technical operation of the Loan Management Platform supporting the company’s Credit Products.
Reporting within the Credit Product & Scoring Technology team, the role translates product and credit requirements into system configurations and technical changes required to launch and operate products such as Airtime Advance, Device Financing, Consumer Loans, Merchant Financing and BNPL.
The role works closely with Product & Portfolio, Credit Scoring, Architecture and Technology teams to ensure new products and changes are implemented accurately, securely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
Key accountabilities and decision ownership:
Product Configuration & Implementation
- Configure new Credit Products within the Loan Management Platform based on approved business and credit requirements.
- Set up product parameters including eligibility, tenure, pricing, fees, credit limits, repayment schedules and workflow rules.
- Implement required changes to existing products, processes and configurations.
- Support product testing, UAT, deployment and post-launch stabilization.
- Ensure configurations are accurately aligned with approved product specifications and credit policies.
- Change & Release Management
- Manage technical changes to the Loan Management Platform through controlled development, testing and release processes.
- Assess the system impact of product, policy and operational changes
- Maintain configuration records, release documentation and change history.
- Coordinate deployment activities and ensure appropriate rollback and contingency plans are in place.
- Minimize production disruption and configuration-related defects.
- Platform Operations & Support
- Support day-to-day operation and technical administration of the Loan Management Platform.
- Monitor platform performance, scheduled jobs, interfaces and processing issues.
- Troubleshoot system incidents and coordinate resolution with internal teams and platform vendors.
- Support issue investigation related to loan creation, disbursement, repayment, collections and customer account status.
- Ensure timely resolution of production issues affecting Credit Products.
Integration & Technical Support
- Support integration between the Loan Management Platform, Credit Scoring Engine, M-PESA, customer channels and external partner systems.
- Work with the Solution Architect and other engineering teams on APIs, workflows and data exchanges.
- Support implementation and testing of new integrations and partner solutions.
- Investigate interface failures, reconciliation issues and data inconsistencies.
- Ensure platform changes remain compatible with dependent systems and interfaces.
Controls, Documentation & Continuous Improvement
- Maintain technical and configuration documentation for Credit Products and platform changes.
- Follow appropriate access control, security, testing and change-management standards.
- Identify opportunities to automate manual platform operations and configuration activities.
- Support platform upgrades, patches and technical enhancements.
- Contribute to improving platform scalability, reliability and operational efficiency.
Key performance indicator:
- Timely configuration and launch of new Credit Products.
- Accuracy and quality of product configuration.
- Successful implementation of platform changes and releases.
- Platform availability and operational stability.
- Resolution time for production incidents and defects.
- Reduction in configuration-related errors and rework.

Core competencies, knowledge and experience:
- 2 – 4 years of experience in Software Engineering, Application Support, Platform Configuration, FinTech or related technology roles.
- Hands-on experience configuring and supporting enterprise or financial transaction platforms.
- Experience with product configuration, workflow setup and production change management.
- Good understanding of APIs, databases, system integrations and application troubleshooting.
- Experience supporting production systems with high transaction volumes and availability requirements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and incident-management capabilities.
- Ability to translate business requirements into system configuration and technical changes.
- Strong collaboration skills across business and technical teams.
Qualifications
Must have technical / professional qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or related field.
- Experience with SQL, databases and application configuration.
- Understanding of software development, testing, deployment and release-management processes.
- Experience working with APIs and integrated enterprise systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
Desired
- Experience with Loan Management Systems, Digital Lending Platforms or Core Banking systems.
- Experience within Banking, FinTech, Mobile Financial Services or Telecommunications.
- Experience configuring lending products, repayment workflows or credit processes.
- Experience with DevOps, CI/CD or automated deployment environments.
- Familiarity with cloud-based platforms and application monitoring tools.
