Job Description
Role and responsibilities
The purpose of the Assistant position is to assist with day-to-day implementation of the Information, Counselling and Legal Assistance (ICLA) Programme in Mai-tsebri, Tselemti, Dima woredas.
Generic Role and responsibilities:
- Promote and share ideas for improvement and necessary changes in activities
- Cooperate with relevant partners and local authorities
- Implement delegated ICLA programme activities according to plan of action
- Ensure proper filing of all project documents
- Prepare and develop progress reports as required by management
- Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and asses new and better ways to assist
- Demonstrate commitment to NRC’s mission, vision and value
Specific responsibilities
- Provide and Facilitate information, counselling, legal assistance project activities to target communities in line with NRC policies, strategies, and work plans.
- Accurately record all ICLA activities in line with NRC policy and using templates and guidance provided by NRC.
- Facilitate and provide accurate information on legal and civil documentation (LCD) and housing, land, and property (HLP) rights and entitlements to target beneficiaries in accordance with agreed information scripts.
- Provide accurate legal counselling on LCD and HLP topics within his/her competency and in a manner that enables ICLA counselling beneficiaries to effectively resolve their LCD and HLP issues independently.
- Assist Provision LCD and HLP training using NRC approved materials and templates.
- Participate in assessments, monitoring and profiling exercises as agreed with line managers.
- Ensure that ICLA activities are carried out in line with appropriate NRC ICLA SOPs.
- Perform any other tasks as requested by ICLA line managers.

Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:
- University Degre Law, Political Science, Sociology, or any related field to this position
- A minimum of 1 year work experience in similar field of work.
- Knowledge of humanitarian principles and code of conduct is essential.
- Knowledge of Amharic language is mandatory and good in spoken and written English
- Understanding Humanitarian intervention and contested areas
- Willing to spend more time at the filed level and ready to learn
