Background And Purpose Of The Assignment
The main purpose of the position is to lead the implementation of 2 Advocacy and Communication plans and support the Project Coordinator in the advocacy work for the project ‘Strengthening the Nutrition Sensitivity of Social Protection’ (SNaSSP) in Ethiopia.
The WFP’s Nutrition Division have received funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) for Strengthening the Nutrition Sensitivity of Social Protection in Ethiopia. The project is aimed to contribute to improving the nutritional status of children, adolescents and women through the implementation of nutrition-sensitive social protection programmes. The project will deliver a gender-transformative nutrition package to two social protection programmes currently being implemented in Ethiopia, namely the Productive Safety Net Programme (PSNP) and the School Feeding Programme (SFP). This will be implemented by Strengthening the overall enabling and regulatory environment for nutrition delivery through social protection programmes and will generate evidence on a comprehensive gender transformative and nutrition package to be implemented within the PSNP and SFP.
WFP Ethiopia urgently needs an advocacy and communication Officer to support the SNaSSP project under the direct supervision of the Ethiopia Country Office Nutrition Head and project coordinator. This position would be assigned to engage with government ministries and departments supporting the project, such as Agriculture, Education, Health and Women and Social Affairs, and other development partners supporting nutrition sensitive programming and those supporting PSNP and SFP. The aim is to build support from stakeholders for implementation of project’s intervention packages and leveraging the project’s advocacy and communications plans for strengthening nutrition in sectors’ programming.
The advocacy and communication Officer will bring technical expertise in advocacy and programme communications for nutrition, public health, social protection for effective stakeholder engagement, collaboration, and partnerships.
