Job Summary

The Senior IT Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of the company’s IT infrastructure, hardware, software, and network systems. This role focuses on ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of all technology systems that support daily operations, production processes, and administrative functions across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

1. IT Infrastructure Maintenance and Support
   • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot computer hardware, peripherals, operating systems, and software applications.
   • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to desktops, laptops, servers, printers, scanners, and network devices.
   • Perform regular preventive maintenance and system upgrades to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
2. Network and Systems Administration
   • Manage and support the company’s local area network (LAN), wireless networks, and internet connectivity.
   • Monitor network performance, security, and connectivity; identify and resolve network-related problems.
   • Assist in the administration of servers, data backups, and disaster recovery procedures.
   • Implement and enforce basic cybersecurity measures to protect company data and systems from threats.
3. User Support and Training
   • Provide timely technical support to employees via phone, email, remote or on-site assistance.
   • Troubleshoot and resolve user-reported issues related to hardware, software, email, and applications.
   • Conduct training sessions for staff on the proper use of IT systems, software tools, and cybersecurity best practices.
4. Project Implementation and Collaboration
   • Participate in the planning and implementation of new IT projects, particularly in hardware procurement, software deployment, and system upgrades.
   • Collaborate with external vendors and service providers for specialized technical support and equipment maintenance.
   • Document technical processes, maintain accurate inventory records of IT assets, and prepare on-demand reports on system performance.
5. Compliance and System Integrity
   • Ensure all IT activities comply with company policies, data protection regulations, and relevant Ethiopian laws.
   • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, incident reports, and system performance metrics.
   • Support internal and external audits of IT systems and infrastructure by providing necessary documentation and technical reports.

Qualifications and Requirements

Educational Level:

• Bachelor’s Degree (BSc) in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:

• Minimum of 2-3 years of professional experience as an IT Technician or in a similar technical support role, preferably within the manufacturing or FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) industries.

Skills:

• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues efficiently.
• In-depth knowledge of Windows operating system, networking protocols (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS), and hardware components.
• Experience with server administration, data backup systems, and basic cybersecurity practices.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for providing user support and documenting technical processes.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
