Senior Accountant – Reporting and Analysis Full Time NEW

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to lead financial reporting and analysis, ensuring compliance with IFRS standards and providing insights through data visualization and profit and loss analysis.

Role purpose: will be responsible for delivering timely and accurate financial reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards (including IFRS), and providing insights into business performance through profit and loss analysis, data visualization, and reporting. This role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, particularly in IFRS 16 (Leases), data Analytics and the ability to collaborate across functions to ensure high-quality financial close and reporting processes

Key accountabilities and Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Analysis

• Review monthly Profit and Loss (P&L) with respective section leads and ensure all P &L items are supported with schedules and KPIs
• Organize balance sheet reviews with FC and maintain tracker of action points
• Perform analytical review of financial results to identify trends, variances, and anomalies, providing clear explanations to management.
• Consolidate and review financial data for accuracy, ensuring proper mapping to reporting structures.
• Deliver management summary reports with clear narratives on business performance drivers.
• Support the preparation of annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and local statutory requirements in HFM
• Compliance & Controls
• Ensure compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and local statutory requirements. E.g IFR 9
• Apply and monitor accounting treatments under IFRS 16 (Leases), including lease classification, measurement, remeasurement, and disclosure requirements.
• Support internal and external audit processes by providing relevant documentation and reconciliations.

  Month-End Close & Timetable Monitoring

• Monitor and coordinate the month-end close timetable to ensure all tasks are executed within deadlines.
• Track progress of close activities across multiple teams and escalate risks of delays proactively.
• Maintain a month-end calendar, ensuring alignment with global/regional reporting timelines.
• Communicate progress and potential bottlenecks to management in real time.

  Data & Visualization

• Develop dashboards and reports (using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Excel) to present financial and operational performance.
• Drive automation and standardization of reporting processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Translate complex financial data into meaningful visual insights for senior management and stakeholders.

  Process Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve Record-to-Report processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting efficiency.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to streamline reporting to the group

Partner with cross-functional teams (FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and Business Units) to align financial reporting processes, telephone calls, walk in customers, customer management system Activities and service Requests

• Identifies key performance and variances, and provides recommendations

Data Analytic

• Proficiency in SQL for data extraction, transformation, and reporting as well as Python for data analysis, visualization, and process automation
• Advanced Excel and reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent).

Key performance indicators:

• Full Support for P&L and Balance sheets
• Quality AFS which are IFRS compliance
• Standardizing Reporting Templates
• Audit Ready Financial Statements
• Timely Reporting – Closing lead time – Average days taken to close books versus target.
• BSR Report by 10^th of Every Month

Education & Experience:

• Accounting or related Finance bachelor’s degree from a recognized university. ACCA will be an added advantage.
• 5- 6 years’ experience in Reporting and Analysis, financial reporting, or accounting roles in a multinational or shared services environment
• Delivers timely and accurate reports to satisfy statutory and business requirements
• Identifies key performance and variances, and provides recommendations
• expertise and commercial awareness to deliver value added solutions
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, with demonstrated experience in IFRS 16 lease accounting.

Experience in preparation of annual financial statements under IFRS.
