In doing so, the UNDP Regional Service Centre for Africa (RSCA) is guided by the UNDP Strategic Plan and Renewed Strategic Offer.
The RSCA (Regional Service Center in Africa) is one of five UNDP Regional Service Centers globally, developing high-quality knowledge and policy for UNDP in Africa. The RSCA is situated in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, as the organization’s main interface with continental and regional bodies such as the African Union, and Regional Economic Communities and serves 46 UNDP Country Offices. Under the overall authority and guidance of the RSCA Director, the RSCA is sub-regionally and thematically divided into the UNDP Sub-Regional Hub for West and Central Africa, based in Dakar Senegal, UNDP Resilience Hub for Africa, based in Nairobi Kenya, and UNDP Africa Sustainable Finance Hub based in Pretoria South Africa. In addition to the four Hubs, the RSCA currently has 10 policy and programmes teams operating across the Hubs including the HIV and Health team operating out of Istanbul. They include; Country Support Team (CST); RBM, M&E and Accelerator Labs; The Regional Programme for Africa; Inclusive Growth; Gender and Women’s Empowerment; HIV, Health and Development; Nature, Climate and Energy; Governance and Peacebuilding; Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience Team; and Finance and Private Sector.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direct supervision of the RSCA Director, the Coordination Specialist’s main function is to foster strong substantive engagement within and across the RSCA teams as well as support for coordination and planning processes and priorities within the framework of the UNDP Strategic Plan and Renewed Strategic Offer for Africa and regional processes. The Coordination Specialist works in close collaboration with technical advisors and experts of programme units and across Hubs ensuring successful and transparent coordination of RSCA activities. The Coordination Specialist is a member of the Joint Secretariat of the Africa Regional Collaboration Platform (RCP), which is supported by the regional offices of DCO, UNECA, and UNDP, and operates under the overall direction of the RCP Chair and the two Vice-Chairs.
Key Duties and Accountabilities include:
UNDP adopts a portfolio approach to accommodate changing business needs and leverage linkages across interventions to achieve its strategic goals. Therefore, UNDP personnel are expected to work across units, functions, teams, and projects in multidisciplinary teams in order to enhance and enable horizontal collaboration.
Provide advisory support to the RSCA Director for UNDP coherent internal coordination and integration mechanisms:

Contribute to the implementation of RSCA Director’s strategic efforts on effective communication, partnership and resource mobilization:
Provides administrative support and contributes as a member of the Secretariat of the Africa Regional Collaborative Platform (RCP) to optimize UNDP’s efforts:
