Position Purpose

Pact seeks Program Assistant for the USAID/Ethiopia Sustainable Peace Activity (SP).

The Program Assistant supports initiatives that foster peace and stability in Ethiopia. The successful candidate will contribute to efforts aimed at strengthening local peacebuilding councils and promoting nonviolent conflict resolution strategies. By assisting in the implementation of activities that enhance community resilience and social cohesion, the Program Assistant will play a crucial role in providing support for strengthening legitimate structures and processes to effectively and nonviolently manage national, regional, and local level conflict issues; and expand collective awareness, access, and willingness of Ethiopians to utilize nonviolent systems to address grievances and mediate interests without violence.

Key Responsibilities

Under the technical and managerial supervision of the Program Manager, the Program Assistant will support the implementation of Sustainable Peace initiatives.  These include, under the direction of the line manager, support to GUC partners, event coordination for trainings and workshops, supporting reporting and documentation, and additional administrative support to the program team.  The Program Assistant will be based in Addis Ababa, but is expected to travel to the field frequently.

The specific duties to be carried out by the successful candidate are listed below:

• Assist program staff in coordinating logistics and program activities.
• Support reporting efforts, including but not limited to activity, weekly and quarterly reports.
• Monitor GUC activity to provide weekly overviews to the Program Manager on progress, challenges and suggestions.
• Data-entry of project information, as assigned.
• Support management of program documentation, including assisting in managing SharePoint filing.
• Coordinate with program teams to ensure the procurement and delivery of services and materials.
• In conjunction with the Communications and MERL team, assist in documenting key successes, lessons, capturing case studies etc.
• Participate in partner monitoring visits and support report preparation
• Assist in meetings preparations and taking minutes.
• Performs any other related duties that may be assigned to her/him by the Supervisor.
