Objectives &Expected Results:
Objectives &Expected Results: Under the supervision of the Project Manager (from CUAMM side) and the Medical Director of Suhul General Hospital, the Pediatrician will lead efforts to enhance the quality and accessibility of child health services across project-targeted facilities, mainly Sehul Hospital. The primary objective is to provide comprehensive clinical care ranging from neonatal to children, while fostering a culture of compassionate, evidence-based practice and strengthening the capacity of local health staff to ensure long-term improvements in maternal, neonatal and child health (MNCH) outcomes.
Specific Tasks and Activities
• Provide high-quality clinical care to neonates, infants, children in targeted health facilities.
• Build the capacity of local health staff through training, mentoring, and clinical supervision on pediatric protocols.
• Support the effective management of SAM and MAM cases in coordination with the nutrition team.
• Strengthen the integration of neonatal and pediatric services to ensure continuity of care for mothers and children.
• Contribute to monitoring, reporting, and data analysis to inform evidence-based pediatric interventions.
Job Responsibility :
The Pediatrician will be based at Suhul Hospital in Shire. He/She will be primarily assigned to the Neonatal Unit, while also providing technical support to the Pediatric Ward, Pediatric ICU, Stabilization Center, and Emergency Department, particularly during daily clinical rounds.

Perform any other duties requested by the Project Manager. Depending on project activities and operational needs, responsibilities may be adapted and evolve according to specific project requirements.
Required Qualification and Education Level
• Medical Doctor (MD) degree with specialization in Pediatrics from a recognized institution.
• A Neonatology Fellowship is considered an added value.
Years of Experience
• Minimum of 2–3 years of demonstrable post-specialization clinical experience in pediatric and neonatal care.
• Previous experience working with an NGO or humanitarian organization is an added advantage.
Certification:
• Certification or training in Compassionate Child Healthcare, Integrated Management of Childhood Illness (IMCI), Basic NICU, Emergency Triage Assessment and Treatment (ETAT), Helping Babies Breathe (HBB), or other relevant pediatric/neonatal training is an asset.
Competencies Required:
• Demonstrated ability to mentor junior medical staff, nurses, interns, and nursing students rotating through the Pediatric Department.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and keeping up to date with advances in pediatric and neonatal care and best practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to educate parents and caregivers on child health, disease prevention, nutrition, and treatment adherence.
License:
• Valid professional license issued by the relevant regulatory body and authorized to practice medicine in Ethiopia.
Language
• Proficiency in English is required. Knowledge of the local language (Tigrigna) is considered an added value.
