About You

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in political, Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with five years of relevant professional experience; or
• Master’s degree in political, Social Sciences, International Relations, Humanitarian Management, Law, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant professional experience.

Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience

• Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations.
• Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking and other vulnerable groups; and,
• Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
• Demonstrated experience in cluster coordination, IASC guidelines and protection principles.
• Demonstrated expertise in program management and reporting requirements.

Skills

• Good knowledge of UN, IOM and NGO mandates and programmes in the IDP humanitarian responses, post conflict construction and development,
• Delivers on set objectives in hardship situations,
• Familiarity with CCCM global standards concerning communication, engagement, and accountability,
• Works effectively with donors, local authorities, stakeholders, beneficiaries, and the broader community to advance country office

Languages

• Fluency in English
• Working Knowledge of Tigrinya and Amharic is an advantage

2. This selection process may be used to staff similar positions in various duty stations. Recommended candidates will remain eligible to be appointed in a similar position for a period of 24 months.
3. National Professional Officers should be nationals of the country of their employment. NPOs perform work at the professional level and the same standards of recruitment qualifications and performance, required for International Professional staff.
4. Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment, verification of residency, visa, and authorizations by the concerned Government, where applicable. Vaccination against COVID-19 will be required for IOM personnel who are hired or otherwise engaged by IOM. As part of the mandatory medical entry on duty clearance, candidates will be requested to provide evidence of full vaccination.
