Background:
The International Rescue Committee, one of the world’s largest humanitarian international NGOs, provides relief, rehabilitation, and development support to vulnerable people and communities in over 30 countries. We began work in Ethiopia in 2000 in response to severe drought in Ethiopia’s Somali region and are currently providing assistance to Ethiopians and refugees in six regions in Ethiopia, implementing emergency and development programs in health, water and sanitation, economic recovery and development (ERD), women’s protection and empowerment, education, child protection, and multi-sectoral emergency response.

Please be advised that this recruitment is for Emergency Roster Placement only and does not involve immediate hiring. This position will be based in different districts/woredas under our field office. Final candidates will be added to the roster and will be contacted right away when an emergency response arises.
Job Overview:
The Midwife Officer is a member of the IRC health and Nutrition team and supporting the implementation of the IRCs MHNTs activities in different woredas under our field offices. They will primarily coordinate and implement effective MCH activities for the emergency health and nutrition responses, for a timely and appropriate service for the client in need, in line with organizational and international standards. Furthermore, S/he expected to provide technical support for gov’t healthcare provider including health extension workers. This position will be based at different woreda under our field office and will directly report to the MHNT leader.
