Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities Communications • Research content and draft messages for social media channels for advocacy, mission activities and international days; • Assist in developing digital visual products for web and social media platforms; create simple visual assets (quote cards, GIFs, videos, etc.). • Proactively contribute suggestions and ideas that will add value to UNOAU’s digital communications, including for the creation of major events and campaigns. • Support live coverage of events and develop content on UNOAU Website; • Assist in the daily monitoring of social media accounts; • Assist with UNOAU internal communications Gender Women peace and Security • Assist in undertaking research and analysis on Gender, Women Peace and Security trends in the region. • Assist in compiling data and information on the impact of conflict on women and girls, with specific reference to conflict affected countries in the region. • Participate in the Gender and WPS events organized by UNOAU • Perform any other duties as requested by the supervisor The Motivational Statement must also include: •Title of degree you are currently pursuing. •Graduation Date (When will you be graduating/have graduated from the programme etc) •Explain why you are the best candidate for this specific internship • Explain your interest in the United Nations Internship Programme In your online Personal History Profile, be sure to include all past work experiences, IT skills, and three references. Qualifications/special skills
- Education To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:
- Applicants at the time of application must meet one of the following requirements:
- (a) Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or,
- (b) Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent)
- The field of study must be closely related to the type of internship you are applying for, that is, communications, media studies, journalism etc.
- Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
- Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s Master’s or Ph.D. Programme.
- Do you meet any of the above criteria? If yes, please indicate which one and attached proof to the application. Please note that you will have to provide an official certificate at a later stage.

- Peace and Security Studies
- Other related disciplines
Applicants must be:
- A student in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree programme (or equivalent),
- Enrolled in a Master’s or Ph.D. programme, or
- A graduate who has completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. programme.
Languages
Languages Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required; knowledge of French is strongly desirable. Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage
