The American Citizen Services (ACS) Assistant provides both passport, citizenship, and special consular services for U.S. citizens in Post’s consular district. Serves as one of the primary points of contact for U.S. citizens in the consular district and maintains a network of public and private sector contacts who may be able to assist U.S. citizens. Communicates directly with citizenship applicants and U.S. citizens in distress and assists in the preparation of emergency messaging and website updates. Works with the ACS Chief, consular officers and other Post staff on crisis preparedness and response.
Performs administrative duties and supports other consular section units as required.
Requirements:
All selected candidates will be subject to a background investigation and may be subject to a pre-employment medical exam.
Selected candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (4 weeks) upon receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.

Knowledge and skills of MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and Power Point are required. Must be able to act independently and exercise sound judgment at all times. Initiative, common sense, and tact are required to meet unexpected and unique situations. Discretion is required to uphold privacy rights of U.S. citizen customers. Must be able to maintain working relationships with local officials; this includes representing Post with high-level contacts. Must be able to work professionally and productively with contacts and customers from all backgrounds. (These may be tested)

A “certification” is any written document from the armed forces that certifies the service member is expected to be discharged or released from active duty service in the armed forces under honorable conditions within 120 days after the certification is submitted by the applicant. The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service. Acceptable documentation must be submitted in order for the preference to be given.
