Rehabilitation Officer: Rehabilitation Full Time NEW

Job Purpose

The Rehabilitation Officer is responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating, and monitoring rehabilitation services for people with disabilities, older people, and other vulnerable individuals. The role aims to improve beneficiaries’ functional independence, social inclusion, access to services, and quality of life through rehabilitation interventions, referrals, assistive devices, capacity building, and community-based rehabilitation (CBR) approaches.

Key Responsibilities

1. Rehabilitation Service Delivery

• Conduct rehabilitation needs assessments for beneficiaries.
• Develop individualized rehabilitation plans.
• Provide basic rehabilitation support and follow-up.
• Facilitate access to physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychosocial support, speech therapy, and other specialized rehabilitation services through referral pathways.
• Monitor beneficiaries’ rehabilitation progress and document outcomes.
• Promote independence and functional ability of beneficiaries.

2. Case Management

• Identify individuals requiring rehabilitation services.
• Register and maintain confidential beneficiary records.
• Coordinate referrals with hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and service providers.
• Conduct regular follow-up visits to ensure continuity of care.
• Support reintegration of beneficiaries into family and community life.

3. Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR)

• Implement Community-Based Rehabilitation activities.
• Promote inclusive community participation for persons with disabilities and older people.
• Organize community awareness campaigns on disability inclusion and rehabilitation.
• Support formation and strengthening of self-help groups and community support structures.

4. Assistive Devices Management

• Assess beneficiaries for assistive device requirements.
• Coordinate procurement and distribution of mobility aids and assistive devices.
• Ensure proper fitting, training, and maintenance of assistive devices.
• Maintain inventory records of rehabilitation equipment and assistive devices.

5. Capacity Building

• Train caregivers and family members on home-based rehabilitation techniques.
• Build the capacity of community volunteers and health workers.
• Conduct awareness sessions on disability rights, inclusion, safeguarding, and accessibility.

6. Coordination and Networking

• Collaborate with health facilities, government offices, rehabilitation centers, disability organizations, and community leaders.
• Participate in coordination meetings and technical working groups.
• Strengthen referral networks for rehabilitation services.

7. Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL)

• Collect and maintain rehabilitation data.
• Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly activity reports.
• Monitor rehabilitation indicators and beneficiary progress.
• Document lessons learned, success stories, and best practices.
• Support project evaluations and assessments.

8. Safeguarding and Protection

• Ensure all rehabilitation services comply with safeguarding and PSEAH policies.
• Maintain confidentiality and dignity of beneficiaries.
• Report safeguarding concerns in accordance with organizational procedures.
• Promote disability inclusion, gender equality, and protection principles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Rehabilitation Sciences, Community-Based Rehabilitation, Public Health, Nursing, Social Work, Disability Studies, or a related field.
• Professional certification in rehabilitation practice is an advantage.

Experience

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in rehabilitation, disability inclusion, or community-based rehabilitation.
• Experience working with NGOs, humanitarian organizations, or development projects.
• Experience supporting persons with disabilities and older persons.
• Experience in case management and referral systems is desirable.
