IMMEDIATE INTERNAL/EXTERNAL VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
FH Ethiopia is a non-governmental organization engaged in relief and development activities. At FH, we operate under a set of guiding principles we call the “The Heartbeat”. Together we follow God’s call responding to human suffering and graduating communities from extreme poverty. FH Ethiopia would like to invite potential candidates to apply for the mentioned position:
Position: Purchaser
Duty Station: Bahir Dar
Duration of Contract: Contract that ends on September 30, 2026
Salary: As per the salary scale of the organization
Closing date: April 17, 2026
Job Summary
Responsible for compiling purchase requests, proforma collection, making analysis and, handling settlement of payments and delivering items to store.
Principal Responsibilities
Key Result #1 –purchase requests at:
1. Verifies all requested materials are with specifications, the quantity; the units of measurements are clearly stated clarifying unclear items and recommendation alternatives
2. Compile the same categories of supplies or equipment
3. Able to apply organization automated applications used for purchase.
Key Result# 2 Vendor selection and Proforma collection
1. Identifies and selects potential vendors to procure requisitioned Items
2. Ensure their reliability and the quality of their products
3. Collect price quotation from reliable suppliers
4. Negotiate with suppliers
5. Keep information accessible by sorting and filling the suppliers address,
Key Result# 3 making analysis and payment request
1. Prepare offer analysis, purchase order, request the payment and facilitate for approval based on the policy and procedure of the organization
2. Place order with adequate lead time to ensure on time arrival of supplies
3. Follow up payment and collect the check for selected winner
4. Receive the materials as per the order
5. Deliver purchased materials to the storekeeper and collect receiving notes
Key Result #4 – Financial Settlement
1. properly record financial document
2. settle the payment on time
3. Handling petty cash for small purchases and loading
Job Level Specifications

⮚ Ability to communicate with organization members.
⮚ Physical fitness to operate in and different weather environments.
⮚ Shows a positive attitude that contributes to a good working atmosphere in the office

Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies
Experience
⮚ At least 4 Years for diploma & 2 years for degree experience in a similar position preferably in an International NGO setting.
⮚ Computer skill is mandatory
⮚ Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
Education/Certifications
⮚ Degree /Diploma in supplies chain management or a relevant field is preferred.
Supervisory Responsibility
⮚ This position has no supervisory responsibility.
Language
⮚ Proficiency in spoken and written Amharic and /or local language of the operational area and, basic understanding of English required;

⮚ Abstains from inappropriate or offensive behavior that can put FHE in a difficult position, impair operations, and jeopardize the health and welfare of all staff of FHE.
⮚ All FHE staff should promotes safe conducts and exercises caution in all work activities; staff should accountable for own personal and professional actions and conduct;
Gender Responsibility
⮚ Be aware of the stereotypes about women’s and men’s capacities, and discuss how they influence staff, in assigning responsibility, and in managing resources at unit and organization level.
⮚ Be able to describe how gender issues relate to one’s job responsibilities and how gender equity can be promoted through the execution of those responsibilities.
⮚ Be familiar with the local Gender Focal Point(s), and go to her/him to learn more about gender issues, or when there is a gender grievance or harassment issue to resolve
⮚ Within each project and department, discuss FH’s Gender & Diversity and Sexual Harassment and sexual exploitation Policies, so that all staff are conversant with them.
⮚ Refrain from any comments or gestures that indicate prejudicial views of female staff, especially female supervisors.
⮚ In each Project and Head Office, ask women staff what changes would make it more “gender-friendly”, organization and implement the recommendations
