We are pleased to announce the following vacancy for Specialist: Finance Operations(Finops) within the Technology Function in Ethiopia. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below.
Reporting to Manager – Managed Services and Infrastructure, the role holder will perform end to end finance operations for the network operations and maintenance by ensuring that relevant agreements and related documentation are processed, and payment are done on time.
To support network operations and regional operations teams with processing of rental, electricity, and invoice payment as well as fuel purchases and reconciliation
Job Responsibilities
- To capture, process and activate BTS site lease agreements on Safaricom finance system.
- To capture and process Network Operations related purchase orders, invoicing and receipting viz. managed services, spares, maintenance etc.
- To perform BTS site rental and utility payments and ensure property owners, vendors, 3rd Party infrastructure owners are paid on time.
- To perform monthly BTS site rental and electricity accrual or provision.
- To analyse the electricity invoices and rental amount and identify discrepancies and/or reconcile the account accordingly prior to payment.
- To review and analyse the Network Managed Services commercial offers in line with opex budget.
- To reconcile fuel purchases and consumption related to network operations back-up generators.
- To ensure that changes in lease agreements details are integrated into the company’s database by liaising with property owners and obtaining the necessary documentation.
- To perform Network Operations Opex (NOpex) budget planning, forecast and control.
- To compile, present and report financial information accurately and timeously (accrual, audit, cash flow forecasting and reconciliation reports).
- To support regional network operations team with rental electricity account issues or disconnection due to non-payment by liaising with internal Finance team and Electric Utility providers
- To ensure adherence to company policy, IFRS16, internal controls, Sox, Internal & external Audit
- To ensure that monthly electricity invoices are requested and paid timeously.
- To ensure that site lease database is accurately updated and maintained.
- To check, process and general administration of existing and new site leases and addendums (electricity/rental) as well as site sharing agreements.
Job Requirements
- Accounting or Financial Experience or in a similar position
- Excellent working knowledge of MS Office, especially Advanced Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- At least more than three years of working knowledge of accounting principles especially IAS17 & IFRS16.
- Financial systems (SAP, Oracle etc.)
- Analytical thinking

- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to work with little or no supervision
- Adherence to policies and procedures
