SCHOLARSHIP GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Candidate eligibility:Outstanding Students of AmboUniversity
  • Scholarships availability: as of 2020/2021 academic year first semester for undergraduate and second semester for post graduatestudents.
  • Scholarship level: Both Undergraduate and Postgraduate
  • First round scholarship recipients: 20UG,5 MSc/MA and 2PhD meritorious students
  • Number of recipients in subsequent years: will be determined considering the existing capacity

 

OBJECTIVE OF THE PROGRAM

The objective of HachaluHundessa Scholarship (HHS)program is to recognize the assassinatedhero, popular Artist and Human rights symbol.

UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP

 ELIGIBILITY

Any secondyear and above undergraduate regular student having a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.75 formales and 3.5 for femalesor highercan apply for the HachaluHundessa merit based scholarship awards.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

  1. Meritorious students will be screened and selected by HHScommitteeto be recipients of the HachaluHundessa Scholarshipawards.
  2. HHSstrivesto balance number of male and female beneficiaries. Accordingly,out of the totalscholarship recipients, 50% shall be female candidates.
  3. Successful applicants will be awarded a certificate of merit, a monthly stipend of 1000.00ETBduring the active academic calendari.
  4.  for a maximum of eight months per year, and 4000.00ETBat graduation.
  5. TheScholarship award is tenable for one year and is renewable until graduation, provided the awardeesmaintain the CGPA required for renewal to be specified by the committee at the time of selection.

POSTGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP

MSc/MA

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for the HachaluHundessa scholarship award candidates have to meet the following basic eligibility criteria:

  1. completion of last degree lessthan five years ago during the time of application
  2. bachelor’s degree qualification with at least a CGPA of 3.0 for males and 2.5 for females
  3. First semester second degree (Masters Program) Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.75 formales and 3.5 for femalesor higher

SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

  • The HachaluHundessa postgraduate scholarship offers funding for the core costs associated with the postgraduatestudies including tuitionfee, research budget as well as accommodation.
  • Meritoriousstudents will be screened and selected by HHS committee to be recipients of the scholarship awards.
  • Successful applicants will be awarded a certificate of merit, tuition fee, research grant (25,000.00ETB for social sciencesand 35,000.00ETBfor natural sciencesstudents) to be paid in two installments after approval of proposals, and accommodation.
  • HHS strives to balance number of male and female beneficiaries.

PhD SCHOLARSHIP

 ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

To be eligible for the HachaluHundessa scholarship award candidates have to meet the following basic eligibility criteriaincluding:a. completion of last degree less than sevenyears ago during the time of application,b. second degree qualification with at least a CGPA of 3.75 for males and 3.5 for females,c. synopsis, andd. activeparticipation in community affairs.

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • second degree qualification with at least a CGPA of 3.75 for males and 3.5 for females; weighted 40% of total,
  • synopsis; weighted 20% of total,
  • interview by the HHS committee; weighted 20% of total,d.active participation in community affairs; weighted 10% of total, and
  • academic reference from threesenior instructors; weighted 10% of total.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

  • The HachaluHundessa postgraduate scholarship offers funding for the core costs associated with the postgraduate studies including tuition fee, research budget as well as accommodation.
  • Commendablestudents will be screened and selected by HHS committee to be recipients of the scholarship awards.
  • Successful applicants will be awarded a certificate of merit, tuition fee, research grant (80,000.00ETB for social sciencesand 100,000.00ETBfor natural sciencesstudents) to be paid in fourinstallments after approval of proposals, and accommodation.
  • HHS strives to balance number of male and female beneficiaries.
